Updates to Mercury
Modern Advanced Find turned on by default.
Available: October 2022
Optional: Yes
Benefit: User Experience
As an option in Wave 1, 2022, the legacy Dynamics Advanced Find was replaced with a new Modern Advanced Find. It can be accessed from the global search on the top navigation bar (see right). When selected, a flyout menu opens on the right-hand side of the screen (below), for a more intuitive user experience. This new UI has been turned on for all environments in this release.
It is now much easier to select the table you wish to perform the search on, either by selecting any table in the app or perform a structured search using the global search bar in the header:
Choosing a table navigates you to the familiar grid page, with filter options immediately available to you to begin constructing your filter:
New user interface.
Available: October 2022
Optional: No
Benefit: Improved User Experience
In this release, Mercury takes advantage of some UI changes that make sections and data on forms easier to read.
The new design gives a fresher feel to screen layouts and provides clearer visibility to the timeline. Sections on the form are lighter than the background, helping them stand out; and the borders have been removed for a modern feel.
Click the image to the right to see it in more detail.
The Timeline has been refreshed with a cleaner appearance. Auto posts appear different to the other records on the timeline. This allows users to differentiate auto-posts from other records on the timeline quickly.
Users can continue to build their search by applying further criteria:
Note:
Although Modern Advanced Find is enabled by default, Users can currently still access the legacy Advanced Find by using the following URL:
<orgnaname>.crm<X>.dynamics.com/main.aspx?pagetype=advancedfind
Rich text support in Appointment description.
Available: October 2022
Optional: Yes, enabled by default
Benefit: Convenience and improved capability
With the new rich text editor control, you can add links, lists, and other rich text to your appointment description. This feature enables you to include links to online Teams meetings and add URLs guiding the recipient to other materials that may be useful during the meeting.
This feature will be automatically enabled for all apps and can be disabled in the Power Platform Admin Console under the Environment settings.
Previously, the feature was an opt-in setting in the environment.
Create and join Teams meetings in-app or from appointments.
Available: October 2022
Optional: No
Benefit: Time saving
It's now easy to join Teams meetings from an appointment in Mercury, with a single button click from the appointment or the timeline control.
While this feature was an opt-in through the environment settings previously, it's now enabled by default for all appointments in tenants that use MS Teams.
Users are now able to set an Appointment as a Teams meeting via the toggle in the Quick Create screen (see right), where a Teams meeting link will be automatically added to the description. Recipients of the calendar invite will receive the familiar Teams invite, below.
When opening the Appointment record, you are now presented with a new ribbon button (see below) where you can join the Teams meeting straight from Mercury. A link can also be found in the Details section.
Easily copy links to records.
Available: October 2022
Optional: No
Benefit: Productivity
The new Share button inside Mercury allows you to share records as easily as you can share Office documents, by either copying a link to the record or emailing a link to the record.
This feature will be enabled for all record types.
Emailing a link
Selecting Email Link opens a dialogue box similar to the one used by other MS Office applications, which your users are likely to be already familiar.
The user simply enters the User or Team name along with a message (if required) and clicks SEND.
The email recipient will be sent a URL link which (providing they have the necessary permissions) will take them directly to the corresponding Mercury record.
Copying a link
Users will also be familiar with the popup box that appears when selecting Copy Link.
The user can copy the records URL to the clipboard, ready to be pasted (CTRL + V) into a document or email.
Filter grid data and save the results as a view.
Available: October 2022
Optional: No
Benefit: Efficiency / User Experience
In any View, when a user adds a filter to a column or changes a filter, an asterisk will appear next to the view name. This identifier confirms to the user that a change has been made to the view.
When selecting the dropdown (right), the user will now be presented with an option to Save as a new view at the bottom, so they can save it as a personal view (below).
Personal views are now identified by the Person icon when looking at all views. System views do not have an identifier.
Individual users are now able to manage their own views by selecting 'Manage and share views' from the bottom of the dropdown.
The next screen (right and below) enables the User to sort the order of the views.
Any User View (not a System View) can also be hidden by selecting the ellipses (...)
Finally, any System View can be set to show as default.
Toast notifications moved to the toast stack.
Available: October 2022
Optional: No
Benefit: User Experience
With this release, Microsoft is moving the client-side toasts (like quick create View Record) from the lower centre to the toast stack.
Removal of slower wild card search in quick find views.
Available: October 2022
Optional: Yes - disabled by default
Benefit: User Experience
In this release, the use of the asterisk wild card (*) as the first character from a quick find view has been disabled to protect against performance issues. Users will see a warning message stating that * can’t be the first character in the search bar. Please note this change only takes effect where Dataverse search is enabled. If you want to turn this warning/blocking of search starting with a wild card off, you can do so by navigating to the Power Platform Admin Center and turning off the option to Prevent slow keyword filter or quick find terms of view pages.
